HAMAS STRIKES ON ISRAEL. Why the surprise? Israel’s Defense Minister Gallant threatened in August that Israel “will send Lebanon back to the Stone Age” in case of armed conflict. And Hezbollah’s secretary general Hassan Nasrallah replied, “You too will be returned back to the Stone Age.”
Instead, this should surprise us: neither the media nor even Gallant’s own defense forces really took those threats seriously. At that time, I wrote on my Facebook pages: “I searched both Chrome and Firefox. But the only major news outlets that carried the story were Newsmax and two Israeli periodicals… Has the world grown callous to threats of extinction at a time when Israel is so vulnerable? It’s embroiled in civil strife over judicial reform. A large segment of Israel’s reserve military is boycotting due to the controversy. Nasrallah stressed Israel’s weakness in his threat: ‘Israel, once a formidable regional power, has gradually eroded in faith, consciousness, self-assurance, and humility, ultimately leading to the crisis it’s currently undergoing… It is undoubtedly its worst day in the Zionist entity’s history.’
“Already Hezbollah has trespassed on Israeli-controlled territory,” I continued. And it has dismantled two Israeli military posts and set up two Hezbollah military tents. With the US preoccupied with Ukraine and threats to Taiwan, is it moving too slowly to bolster Israel’s defenses? When old threats of national extinction are now becoming all too real possibilities?”
Iran behind Hamas & Hezbollah
Now we know that Hezbollah joined the attack a day after Hamas’ armed forces massively raided Israel. Iran coordinated both terrorist organizations. This happened not long after the Biden administration gave $235 million to Palestinians and $6 billion to Iran.
Especially on the 50th anniversary of the Yom Kippur war, we should have stood ready for such an offensive. We can only pray that God will arise and help Israel roll it back. He did just that in the 1973 Yom Kippur war and turned it into an Israeli victory. But also pray for an even greater miracle than that. Because the terrorists have not targeted soldiers this time, but thousands of civilians.
