Blood, Treasure, Time—What it Will Take to Beat Iran

BLOOD, TREASURE, TIME. Both Trump and U.S. voters have decided not to spill blood. Not when we have drones and bombs to fight from a distance without risking human lives. But we can’t win a war without humans taking ground. We can only hope and pray that the Iranians will do that without our troops on the ground to help.

Yet that means we spend more treasure to beat Iran. Not only paying money for drones and bombs and other military hardware. But also paying money at the gas pump when Iran makes oil harder to get. We all know the world won’t need the Strait of Hormuz much longer. Already nations are building pipelines to bypass that vulnerable route. Still, it takes money to sustain the military and to build pipelines.

And it takes time. If we don’t spill blood, if we don’t spend treasure, we must spend time. That’s why this war will probably last beyond the midterms. If the Democrats win one or both houses of Congress, they will try to block spending more treasure. They want to stop the war and declare defeat to spite Trump. Even though he is winning the war by any measure. He just needs more time to let Iran collapse under his multiple levers of financial treasure.

If we don’t give Trump more time, we’ll be giving time to Iran. Time to rebuild its nuclear program despite its constant denials that it wants nuclear bombs. Its more constant cries of “Death to the US” and its constant efforts to get more weapons-grade uranium belie that. Only yesterday its VP said they’re working on missiles to reach the US. Iran wants to spend all the blood, treasure and time it needs to nuke us.

Missiles + nuclear bombs = death to the US. Then we’ll regret not spending the time and treasure to prevent blood spilling from tens of millions who would get hit.

PRAY WITH US about blood, treasure, time:

Father God, we ascribe all power to You. For You alone know how to use power to increase Your government and peace in the world. So take the government away from Iranian terrorists who use it mainly to make war. And take power away from their military to sustain the terrorist regime. You have already allowed financial pressure to take away the treasure Iran needs to survive.

So give us patience for the time it takes to let that pressure cause the regime to fall. Give the Iranian people grace to take over with the minimum of blood and treasure spent. Let the Christians now experiencing revival set moral standards and use moral authority to guide it. Let Your people freely speak and spread the name of Christ again. And cause the enemies of Your good will for the US and Iran to scatter. In Jesus’ name, amen.
