Votes vs. Ballots—How Poll-Winners Lose

By November 13, 2022February 25th, 2023Current Events

votes vs. ballotsVOTES VS. BALLOTS. Pollsters predicted Republicans winning the Senate by several seats and the House by several dozen. So what happened? The Senate races have resulted in a near-even split. And the House races show no clear majority yet. Now Republicans seemed poised to win the House only by a margin of 10-20 seats out of 435.

Lax rules since the pandemic have produced mail-ins and collection drop-off boxes with skewed results. 2012 records show only 25 million early or absentee ballots cast. And they had a 5% rejection rate. Because if a mail-in ballot arrived with a name or address that did not match the records, it didn’t count. And if it arrived late, it didn’t count. More strict rules for ballots ensured more valid votes.

But 2022 records show four times as many early or absentee ballots. And ballot rejection rate is about 20 times less in most states. Because many states are counting late ballots & ballots with errors in names, addresses and signatures. And mostly Democrats are playing the ballot-harvesting game.

The difference between votes and ballots

Note how many times the word “ballot(s)” occurs in the two above paragraphs. We must identify the crucial difference between votes and ballots. A valid vote requires a voter showing ID that must match his or her records. Then that one voter must fill out one ballot and put it in a ballot box. Only then can that one vote be counted as one vote. In this way a dead person or non-resident cannot cast a valid vote.

On the other hand, a ballot has many blanks that anyone can fill in. More Democrats are focusing not on winning votes, but on providing as many ballots as possible. Then they can manipulate the results by either filling out ballots themselves, or by ballot-harvesting.

Note that they call it ballot-harvesting and not vote-harvesting. Ballot-harvesting involves personally distributing blank ballots and influencing how people fill them out. Then harvesters collect the ballots and often read the ballots before putting them into envelopes. Finally, they decide which ballots to throw away and which to deposit in a collection box.

States should ban all such ballot-harvesting practices. Instead, many states defend them in the name of non-discrimination. As a result, campaigning, promoting, debating, and presenting your case to voters become less relevant. Manipulating ballots turns out the winning hand. All kinds of cheating can occur behind the scenes unless only valid voters can cast valid votes.
