CONSTITUTION PRAYER CAMPAIGN. Belize will now join with many other nations in a process to choose its future. But many nations want to impose their woke will on Belize. They are spending millions on pushing transgenderism, abortion and LGBT privileges. And they are finding a few Belizeans to collude with them in remaking Belize in their image.
So on Pentecost Sunday, May 28—the Global Day of Prayer—evangelicals kicked off a prayer campaign. We will keep dozens—and soon hundreds—of prayer warriors updated on each battle we face. Because only with a sustained and united prayer can we win this war for our nation. We hope that next year at the Global Day of Prayer we can declare victory.
The People’s Constitutional Commission (PCC) has set June 22 as the date to begin “town halls.” At these town halls each interest group will have speakers promoting its agenda. But with 34 PCC members, will that leave much room for audience members to participate?
In 2020 a campaign to enshrine LGBT privileges held similar nationwide consultations. But so many Christians showed up to speak out passionately, that the LGBTs were overwhelmed. This time we can expect that they will drum up crowds and come with prepared speeches. So we had better stir up a big Christian turnout and speakers with clear talking points.
“The supremacy of God”
Behind this war of words a spiritual war will take place. It will last at least another 12 months. So evangelicals are teaming up with Catholics to win this war. Together we comprise about 60% of Belizeans.
Christians influenced the writing of the first and present constitution. It begins thus: “the Nation of Belize shall be founded upon principles which acknowledge the supremacy of God.” Let’s start by praying that Belize will keep God supreme. And that the rest of the Constitution will follow from that foundational truth.
