DIGITAL DOLLAR TRAP. We all know the saying, “Watch your pocket-book?” So what if your pocket-book was watching you? House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, R-Minn, warned of this if the US started a central bank digital currency. As a result, it would produce a Federal Reserve-controlled ledger of your transactions. Emmer said that would amount to “the ultimate form of surveillance” like China has with its digital yuan.
Emmer said a digital dollar like the Chinese yuan could track how you travel. And record what you buy or sell. That brings us one step away from the Antichrist state. There “no one will be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark…of the beast” (Rev. 13:17).
Emmer has tried to pass a bill barring the Federal Reserve from issuing such a digital dollar since 2022. Then in January 2025, President Trump issued an executive order that did more. It prohibited any federal agency from establishing or promoting such a digital dollar. Finally, Emmer passed a bill codifying Trump’s executive order into law on July 17, 2025. But it passed by only a 219-210 vote in the House. Now it still awaits Senate action.
To buy and sell freely—or not
What if in the midterms the Democrats manage to get a majority? Then in 2028 manage to elect a socialist-leaning Democrat president, as most Democrats tend to be? In that case, we might see a digital dollar enforced selectively against freedom-living Americans. That could make America autocratic again, like it was under Biden’s auto-pen.
Or worse, take the next step toward an antichristian state. Consider how many Democrats cheered the outspoken Christian Charlie Kirk’s assassination. He promoted freedom of speech for his opponents, saying “Prove me wrong.” Pray that God will preserve our freedom to speak and buy and sell. For His words will always prove right in the long run.
PRAY WITH US about digital dollar:
Father God, we thank You for storing up treasures with You in heaven. Because only those treasures will matter when we live with You there. But You can how we steward the treasures you have entrusted us on earth. Yet anti-Christian forces don’t want us to use them for Christian purposes.
So keep us free from antichrist traps like the digital dollar might become. Disarm all attempts at excessive surveillance. Affirm our freedom to buy and sell freely. Most of all, guide us in paths of financial righteousness for Your name’s sake. And as we seek Your kingdom and Your righteousness, we will trust You to provide all good things. For we want Your ways to prosper in the fullness of a global harvest on earth as it is in heaven. In Jesus’ name, amen.
