20-Point Peace Deal—How Much Progress Made?

20-Point Peace Deal

20-POINT PEACE DEAL. We hear much about this deal. But what are the 20 points? And how far have we achieved them? The post-WWII plan for Germany had only four points. Specifically: disarmament, denazification (i.e. deradicalization), decentralization, democratization. Since we don’t expect democratization in this case, let’s use the more neutral “development.”

See the 20 points here. The first three points include both sides agreeing to deradicalize and develop Gaza for its people’s sake. All military operations end and Israeli forces withdraw behind a certain line. Points 4-5 specify Hamas’ release of all hostages—alive and deceased—then Israel’s release of 250 life-sentence prisoners and 1,700 detainees.

Disarmament came first in the Germany plan, but sixth in Gaza’s plan, which is not quite chronological. Because point seven—distribution of aid—comes with point three’s agreement of both sides to the plan.

Was this a mistake? Should we have let Gazans back into Gaza and distributed aid before disarming them?

See below how to pray about this

I think not. For as soon as we did, Hamas started executing its own Palestinian enemies, and killing some Israelis too. Israel retaliated, because Hamas had broken the cease-fire. And Hamas did the same again today, Oct. 28, and Israel struck back as expected.

Why have Egypt, Indonesia, Azerbaijan & Pakistan—who agreed to the plan—not committed troops? Of course you need armed troops to disarm Gazans. They could have lined up troops at every Gaza entry point and used detectors as at airports. While also using appropriate detectors to flush the arms out of the interior of Gaza. Isn’t this the obvious first step, as in postwar Germany?

Apparently “peacekeeping” Muslims don’t yet want to confront and disarm terrorist Muslims. Until they do, the other 13 points will remain fraught with danger. Not only in distribution of aid, but in the transitional government, rebuilding, and economic development.

So where is the transitional International Stabilization Force (ISF) for keeping peace and security in Gaza? On paper–still unsigned by any nation willing to specify what forces it will provide. Until it’s signed, Israel can’t hand over any part of Gaza to anyone. And point 20’s “peaceful & prosperous coexistence” of Gazans & Israelis will remain a foggy future vision.

PRAY WITH US about 20-Point Peace Deal:

Father God, we exalt You as the God of peace who will soon crush Satan under our feet. You say You make wars cease to the ends of the earth. Yet many call Hamas’ war an endless war that they keep fighting despite the 20-point peace deal. And no one except Israel has committed to stopping them. So show the nations You will bless those who bless Israel. As soon as any nation or nations show up to disarm and dehamasify Gaza, show the world Your blessings on them.

For blessed are the peacemakers. It takes strength to make peace. So provide all the strength and peace that peacemakers need to make this war cease. Shake and remake Gaza in such a way that Gazans will never want to support a terrorist state again. Break all habits of antisemitism and develop habits of Abrahamism as in the Abraham accords. And delay the last days long enough for the fullness of Gentiles—even Muslims—to come into Your kingdom. In Jesus’ name, amen.
