Muslims Open New Mosque in Belize City

MUSLIMS OPEN NEW MOSQUE. On Feb. 18, the Ahmadiyya Muslims opened their silver-domed “Mosque of Light” on Cemetery Road. Channel 7 said it “is poised to become a cornerstone of the community.” (Note: Ahmadiyyas admonish women to wear veils or head coverings for modesty and protection.)

Minister of Education Francis Fonseca called it “a place of enlightenment.” Mayor Bernard Wagner called it “stellar” in its contributions to sports and community development. And new Minister of Religious Affairs Henry Charles Usher called it “spectacular.”

The Ahmadiyya Muslims seek to please the public by proclaiming the unity of all religions. But their very name not only sets them apart from other Muslims. It declares itself superior to other religions by promoting Mirza Ghulam Ahmad—its founder—as messiah.

Ahmad claimed to be the messiah who fulfilled all religions that have a messiah. He taught that all these key religious leaders prophesied of him: Jesus, the biblical prophets, Krishna, Buddha, Confucius, and Muhammad.

Which one died and rose again?

Then he died at age 73 in 1908. And all these other religious leaders have died, too. But only one has risen from the dead—Jesus Christ. For the empty tomb and 500+ witnesses testify to His resurrection (1 Cor. 15:3-6).

Yet knowing this, Ahmad denied that Jesus rose from the dead. “Ahmadi Muslims believe that Jesus was crucified and survived the four hours on the cross. He was later revived from a swoon in the tomb. Ahmadis believe that Jesus died in Kashmir of old age whilst seeking the Lost Tribes of Israel.” But they have no real evidence for this belief.

“Then if anyone tells you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah,’ or ‘There he is,’ don’t believe it. For false messiahs and false prophets will rise up and perform great signs and wonders so as to deceive, if possible, even God’s chosen ones. See, I have warned you about this ahead of time” (Mt. 24:23-25, NLT).

So let no one deceive you. Jesus the Messiah alone paid the price for our sins at His First Coming. And He alone will make our mortal bodies immortal at His Second Coming. For “then will come about the saying that is written, “Death is swallowed up in victory’” (1 Cor. 15:54).
