The Church’s 4-Year Term during a Disputed Presidency

the church's 4-year termTHE CHURCH’S 4-YEAR TERM. Biden fears enough for his presidency that he may keep the National Guard in D.C. through the fall. Maybe longer. In the meantime, abundant testimony of election tampering keeps arising.

And 74+ million Trump voters are having a hard time accepting the unprecedented number of executive orders—over 50, many of them radical–from a disputed president.

But after such fierce opposition met the Trump presidency for the past four years, we can expect more fierce opposition for the next four years. No matter who—Biden or Trump—holds that power.

How does the church find a way forward in the next four years? Much depends on how we pray and act, with “the incomparably great power” God has given us (Eph. 1:19).

Many keep praying for a miracle to suddenly put Trump back into office. For God can do anything He wants (Lk. 1:37). And He can decide to do so in His timing, not in ours (Dan. 2:21).

In fact, God has twice caused an army which overwhelmed the nation of Judah to suddenly leave Judah in peace (2 Chron. 20,32). Since He remains the same, can’t He cause the same kind of reversal today?

Of the multitude who prophesied a Trump victory, many stay confident that God will still make it happen. Listen to Johnny Enlow, Hank Kunneman, Kat Kerr, Jeff Jansen, Kent Christmas, and others. Insightful and influential Christian shows like Flashpoint and Elijah Streams keep featuring them. How can you help being impressed by their cheerful perseverance in the face of the odds?

Testing prophecies

So I too keep praying that this will happen. But God has not directly spoken to me about the election results. And no one can claim that prophets in the church age are infallible. On the contrary, the NT tells us to test both prophecies (1 Cor. 14:29; 1 Th. 5:20-22) and prophets (1 Jn. 4:1-6).

For some, the test of the Trump-victory prophecy came on Inauguration Day. Lance Wallnau, an advocate of the “7 mountains of influence” strategy, has spoken at length on this point. In June 2015 he himself predicted Trump’s first term, long before most other prophets.

Yet after Inauguration Day 2021, he observed that God could have intervened to vindicate Trump. But He didn’t. Therefore, we should ask why God has allowed the Biden administration to be established. “For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God” (Rom. 13:1).

What is God doing? He is causing His church to rise up and start doing what Trump cannot do by himself. We must prepare for God to move on the half of the country who not only oppose Trump, but oppose Christians and God’s divine destiny for the United States.

God is already releasing revival in many places in the US. But it won’t carry out God’s purposes if it only results in salvations. It must also result in national reformation. God is exposing deep evils in our election process and social media as well as the deep state. If united, Christians can exert their influence to change these conditions.

At present, enemies of God dominate 6 of the “7 mountains”, or arenas, of influence in this nation. Not only government and media, but the economy, culture, schools, and even the family.

Gaining back ground on the 7 mountains

Only the church mountain remains unconquered. Still, too many in the church are yielding to outside controls. Churches are facing limits in places where casinos, bars and strip joints are operating openly.

Christians must stop compromising with the world and fighting among ourselves (James 4:1-5). Instead, we must move together with this move of God, not only in evangelism but in public activism. The gospel of the kingdom affects every arena of life. We must train both committed and newly converted Christians to bring divine influence wherever they are.

Only then can we begin to take back our schools, social media, businesses, and local & state governments. Then Trump and/or Trump-like leaders can accomplish far more on the national and global levels. Increasingly, we will support godly leaders who rise up among them.

If we don’t, our children will grow up in a world with many limits on their speech, faith, careers and associations. But few limits on sexual perversion and exploitation by those who control them.

Biden began this term by promoting and enforcing these trends. The more Christians join to reverse these trends now, the longer the grace period for our nation will last. Hopefully, far beyond this current four-year term. But that depends on us.

Will we wait for miracles and a Trump-like deliverer to come later? Instead, let’s work to disciple this nation with the grace God is giving us now. And welcome the miracles we pray for whenever God gives them.

I still believe Trump is the right one for president at this time. But we are the right ones for Christ at such a time as this. Let’s act like it.
