TECHNOLOGY IN THE MILLENNIUM. Now that Labor Day has passed, let’s consider how labor and life will change in the Millennium. It begins after the greatest earthquake in history has stricken the world. At that time “the cities of the nations fell” (Rev. 16:18-19). This final disaster ends the seven bowl plagues on the eve of the Millennium. What technology will Christ, the returned raptured saints, and the survivors use to recover?

They won’t have the technology we have today. The last battle at Armageddon leaves “the flesh of horses and those who sit on them” on the ground for birds to devour (Rev. 19:17=18). Previously, the Antichrist’s “kingdom became darkened” in the fifth bowl plague (16:10-11). Something like a solar flare (verse 8) with an EMP effect must have struck the earth. Because Scriptures about the times after that give no evidence of electricity being restored.

Instead, we see horses at Armageddon, and horses, mules and camels in the Millennium (Isa. 60:6; 66:20). No hint of vehicles running on electronics and gas. No hint of mechanized construction or mass food production or processing. Instead, we see each one building his own house and growing plenty of his own food.

Isa. 65:21-23

They will build houses and inhabit them;

They will also plant vineyards and eat their fruit.

…not build and another inhabit,

They will not plant and another eat;

For as the lifetime of a tree, so will be the days of My people…

They will not labor in vain,

Or bear children for calamity;

For they are the offspring of those blessed by the Lord,

And their descendants with them.

Eden restored

God will restore the waste lands to an Eden-like condition for the Millennial generations to come:

Isa. 51:2

Indeed, the Lord will comfort Zion;

He will comfort all her waste places.

And her wilderness He will make like Eden,

And her desert like the garden of the Lord;

Joy and gladness will be found in her..

Instead of artificial technology, God uses natural and supernatural technology. Rivers will flow with more life-giving powers than ever before. The river of life will make the Dead Sea (the “sea of Arabah”) “become fresh. It will come about that every living creature which swarms in every place where the river goes, will live. And there will be very many fish, for these waters go there and the others become fresh; so everything will live where the river goes. And it will come about that fishermen will stand beside it” (Ezek. 47:9-10).

Of plants that grow beside the river, Ezekiel says, “Their leaves will not wither and their fruit will not fail. They will bear every month because their water flows from the sanctuary, and their fruit will be for food and their leaves for healing” (verse 12).

In these ways natural things will have supernatural properties to grow without ceasing and to heal. Why? Because the presence of raptured, glorified saints has set them free from decay.

Setting creation free from corruption

“For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God…the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God” (Rom 8:19,21).

These raptured saints will also possess supernatural powers. They will extend this healing of the land beyond the Dead Sea to other nations. At the same time, they will extend the government and peace of Christ. “Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end” (Isa. 9:7).
