INTERIM IRAN REGIME. Middle East expert Walid Phares says Iran needs an interim regime to take over now. Because as the regime weakens, the armed forces’ desire to defect quickens. But defect to whom?

To the new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamanei, the assassinated Ayatollah’s son? Under his father, he coordinated military and security institutions, so he could step into that role easily. But by the time you read this, he might step into a bullet or bomb first. Because US President Donald Trump said no Iran leader would last long without his approval. And the US and Israel have just about achieved supremacy over Iran’s skies, so they can bomb at will.

But can one gain supremacy over ground with the same population as WA, OR, CA, AZ, NM & TX combined? Ground that covers three-quarters of the combined area of those six states? Kurds—7% of Iranians—can try to nibble off pieces of the partly Kurdish western Iran. And Azeris—24% of Iranians—can try to nibble portions where Iran borders Azerbaijan to the northwest.

Yet the new leadership will need the approval of the huge heartland—a 636,000 sq. mile power vacuum. The son of the former Shah of Iran, Reza Pahlavi says millions of Iranians have chanted his name. But he has not set foot on Iran in 47 years.

He wants to lead Iran in a transitional constitutional process ending in a popular vote for the next leaders. Until then, he encourages protesters in the streets to “claim public spaces.” But how can they hold those spaces without arms greater than the Revolutionary Guard possesses? And how will they gain control of the other 636,000 sq. miles?

That leads me back to the surprising solution I suggested in a prayer alert two months ago. The hidden Iranian Christian revival–which many call the world’s greatest in the past two decades–can begin to come out in the open as the mullah regime collapses. The underground churches have been praying for protection and freedom of religion. And as God arises in their midst, their enemies are scattering and freedom is spreading. Now let’s pray they overcome and set the course for constitutional freedoms to take hold throughout Iran. And for spiritual armor and weapons to prevail over strongholds against the knowledge of Christ.

PRAY WITH US about Interim Iran regime. Father God, we exalt Jesus who won all authority in heaven and on earth on the cross. We call on the power of the cross and resurrection as Good Friday and Easter approach. For we do not wield the weapons of the world. On the contrary, our weapons have divine power to demolish strongholds. The world will argue that Iranians have no hope of a coalition great enough to topple the Mullah state.

But we demolish arguments, and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of Christ. We declare Islam as a pretension and Muhammad as a pretender, a false Christ and false prophet. And we take every thought in the Quran captive to the obedience of Christ. For Christ is the fulfillment of all that the Muslims were seeking in Muhammad and Allah. So let the tens of thousands of Muslims who have dreamed of the “man in white” see His reality in Iran. And may the fullness of the Gentiles come in there and throughout the Muslim world before the end comes. In Jesus’ Almighty Name, amen.
