Revelation 18:23-24 speaks of the Babylon economy, that “your merchants [read “drug dealers”] were the great men of the earth, because all the nations were deceived by your sorcery [Greek “pharmakeia”, which can also mean narcotics]. And in her was found the blood of the prophets and the saints and all who have been slain on the earth.”
Jalisco New Generation (JNG) and other cartels are turning Mexico into harbinger of the end-times Babylon. Those “slain on the earth” include a federal judge and his wife. Anyone who opposes JNG—judges or pastors, governors or soldiers, mayors or policemen—can expect to join to their hit list. So can other drug gangs. JNG is now waging war with gangs in the central state of Guanajuato over a $3 billion market in stolen gasoline.
The biggest threat to Mexico’s security
Furthermore, with their profits JNG has built an armed force strong enough to challenge the Mexican state. Former security commissioner Renato Sales says JNG “is the most urgent threat to Mexico’s security.” It has even shot a helicopter out of the sky, killing 8 soldiers and a policewoman.
Yet President Lopez Obrador has taken a “Hugs not Guns” approach to the cartels’ violence. But some of his non-violent measures against them have hurt. For example, Mexico’s Finance Ministry froze about 2000 bank accounts connected to JNG in June. Yet JNG has always responded to opposition with more firepower. Specifically, one security analyst, Eduardo Guerrero, said that JNG is planning “a crusade of vengeance.” He calls it “the beginning of a wave of massacres and assassinations of police and judicial officials. It’s part of a strategy to show strength to the government.”
