Don’t Lose America to Save Iran—Dinesh d’Souza

don’t lose America

DON’T LOSE AMERICA. Here I provide a condensed version of an insightful analysis from my favorite political podcaster. Dinesh contends the US has achieved its main goals in Iran and is making the best deal it can to get out:

Iran’s nuclear sites have suffered such that Iran can’t even dig up the debris to hand it over to the US. The US and Israel have taken out 85% of Iran’s industrial base. Iran’s navy sits at the bottom of the ocean. Its air force has been completely grounded. And Its nuclear facilities, ballistic capability, and military infrastructure have all been decimated. Iran’s supreme leader is gone, and its top leadership has been thinned out.

Not since the Iranian revolution itself has a US president done more to pulverize the Iranian regime. We’ve accomplished that as our main goal. Now we’re making a deal on our terms to finish the job and get out.

See below how to pray about this

I would have liked to see the mullahs gone. But as in Venezuela, US intervention never aimed directly at regime change. Regime change was a potential outcome. But alas, in Iran, it never materialized. Why not? Quite obviously, because neither the US nor Israel wanted to take the steps necessary to achieve it. Neither country wanted to launch a full-scale invasion of Iran.

The Mullahs and their allies have an ironclad will fortified by Islam itself. Some of them will go to their death rather than surrender. They view surrender as a defeat for Allah himself which they will never countenance. Now the Nazis too had this kind of iron will and look what it took to overcome that regime.

At one point, I wondered if the Iranian people would themselves rise up. Just as the peoples of Eastern Europe did in the last phase of the Soviet Empire. We saw what happened the last time when the regime launched a merciless crackdown. Still, the Iranian people must take risks if they want their country back. But they did not confront the regime directly and force the regime to lash out. Then world would have seen the barbaric nature of the regime and done what it could to take it out.

Here I want to state the basic premise of the Reagan doctrine. People must fight for their own country and their own freedom. They fight and we help. But if they do not fight, they cannot expect us to help them out of a horrible situation of their own making. The Iranian people brought on the revolution and since then they have had to endure its consequences. You get the revolution you fought for.

The best deal we can get for now

So, what is the case for Trump’s deal? Quite simply, it’s the best he could do given the constraints he is operating under. And what about the 300 billion that Trump is supposedly gifting Iran? Actually, that’s not coming from US taxpayers. It includes giving Iran access to its own previously frozen assets. Plus opening the door to private investors and the Gulf States investing in Iran.

But the money only goes to Iran if it complies with the terms of the deal. Iran has to give up its nuclear aspirations, at least for the foreseeable future. Iran has to get out of the terrorism business. And Iran has to stop using proxies to promote revolution in some. And if they renege on the deal, they don’t get the money. They get something else instead. In Trump’s words, they get bombs on their heads.

Trump has already rearranged the power structure in the Middle East. The Middle East has for decades, well, even centuries, had three important regional powers. Not counting Israel, they include Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Iran. In recent decades, Iran clearly became the most powerful. Now, Iran has fallen even below countries like Jordan and the United Arab Emirates.

So, the United States and Israel have together reduced Iran to a pale shadow of its former state. Iran has been cut down to size with hardly any loss of life for Israel or America. When in history has so much been achieved at so minimal a cost in human casualties? Trump wants Israel to celebrate this achievement and it’s a big one. Admittedly, many in the Netanyahu camp want more. But Trump pointed out that Israel had time to do more and didn’t.

If Iran develops nukes again, we can bomb them again

As for the nukes, yes, the Iranians have not given up. And circumstances permitting, they will try again. But who can stop this? They have the knowledge of how to build nukes. They have the money from oil revenue to afford it. Well, we can only try regulate the circumstances in which they operate. But it will take them a long time to rebuild what they have lost.

As Machiavielli tells us in his discourses, there are few permanent victories in politics. So at some future time, we may have to clobber Iran again. Let’s hope we have the leadership and the will to do it.

My final point is that the Trump deal, such as it is, will undoubtedly bring gas prices down. It will lower food and transportation costs by lowering energy costs. It will stabilize global markets, and push the stock market up. Finally, it will allow Trump to shift his focus to domestic issues, and this is good for the GOP in the midterms.

Without domestic victories, the Republicans can’t keep their hands on the steering wheel of foreign policy. Without domestic victories, we can’t make America great again or even save America. It makes no sense to save Iran and lose America. And that’s the way I see it.

PRAY WITH US about don’t lose America:

Father God, You have appointed the times for all nations. For some, You pluck up and break down and overthrow. For others, You build and plant. So we pray for Iran that You, and not the US or Israel, overthrow the terrorist regime. Because it curses Your chosen people Israel and terrorizes others, even its own people.

But we also ask You to build and to plant a new government more responsive to the Iranian people. For the great revival You have initiated there decades ago keeps growing. And Your underground church there which You have planted keeps praying and seeks to emerge. So as You make the mullah regime bow to You, lift up the heads of Your people there. And establish the new authorities You know will serve You and the people best in such a time as this. And God bless America, stand beside her—in her 250th birthday—and guide her for many years to come. In jesus’ name, amen.
