CHRIST’S MILLENNIAL RULE. How many Christians will experience the Rapture and return to earth to rule with Christ (Rev. 20:6)? Based on figures from Operation World and Wikipedia, we can make a wild guess: 30 billion.* Including all believers throughout history, since Adam and Eve until the end times.
But even if they amounted to only 3 billion, they would far outnumber the survivors of the end times. That means those who remain alive when the Millennium begins (Joel 2:31-32). End-times teacher Mike Bickle estimates that 100 million would survive after being left behind. Yet even if as many as 1 billion survive, raptured saints would outnumber them at least three to one.
Imagine the Millennium beginning with us raptured believers as rulers numbering three times the surviving population. That would mean each survivor could have three of us as “guardian” saints. But even if each survivor had only one of us as a guardian saint, what might that government look like?
It would not need the kind of government departments we have today. No Departments of Defense or of Veterans Affairs, because nations would no longer learn war. No Department of State, because nations would settle their disputes at the Temple Mount (Isa. 2:2-4). And no Health and Human Services, because healing and prosperity would overflow to all (Jer. 33:6-9).
Education, transportation, energy, housing, agriculture and commerce would radically change. Each guardian saint would ensure that his charge—or better, protégé—would receive those blessings in natural or supernatural ways. For they would not need machinery or technology, just as heaven doesn’t.
Supernatural resources
As guardian saint you would have access to supernatural resources. Smarter than AI, you could educate your protégé in “all the treasures of wisdom and understanding” (Col. 2:3). You could transport him (or her) to conferences taught by historical geniuses in every field. You could transport him in time travel to witness historical scenes instead of just reading about them.
Protégés would need no energy except for supernatural power. And such power could replace electricity in lighting up rooms and providing heat and air conditioning. Nor would they need electricity for phones, computers, TVs or audio players. As guardian saint you could bring scenes and sounds to your protégé in open visions and spiritual voices.
Because guardian saints rule with Christ, you would rule as Christ rules. But in person, and not just in Spirit. Since you have seen Christ as He is, you are like Him, with access to heavenly resources (1 Jn. 3:2; Eph. 1:3).
Ruling would not mean controlling but providing your protégé with the conditions for maximum growth. The protégé would learn to govern himself and to follow Christ as you follow Him. Of course, the protégé could choose to sin, and others could choose to sin against him. But you as guardian saint would have power to guard him against both harm and harming others.
Love as the highest law
Love would be the highest law. It produces the fruit of the Spirit, and “against such things there is no law” (Gal. 5:22-23). Until he can love others, the protégé should learn to act like he does love them. That means to respect them as equally loved by God. And to respect their property as allotted by God. Covetousness is the original sin (Rom. 7:7-11).
The protégés would work with guardian saints to restore the earth to a kind of Eden. “For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God.” As guardian saints we will set creation “free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God” (Rom. 8:19,21). With protégés we will “rebuild the ancient ruins” that had fallen during the end-time plagues. (Isa. 58:12,14).
During the Millennial “periods of restoration”, the meek “shall inherit the earth” (Acts 3:21; Mt. 5:5). But what of those who rebel against the benevolent rule of Christ and His guardian saints? They will join Satan’s short-lived last rebellion in the Gog-Magog war (Rev. 20:7-10). “Then THE RIGHTEOUS WILL SHINE FORTH AS THE SUN in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear” (Mt. 13:43).

*Let’s begin with those living today. Operation World in 2010 calculated that 32.29% called themselves Christian. So with today’s world population of 8 billion, that would amount to about 2.6 billion Christians. But only born-again Christians would make it to heaven. Because Jesus said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God” (Jn. 3:3).
The 2.6 billion includes those born as babies into the faith, plus those born again. So let’s be generous and say that half of them, or 1.3 billion, are born again. But let’s add to that, the one-billion soul harvest that we’re praying for. And that amounts to 2.3 billion believers entering into the end times.
Wikipedia estimates that a total of 109 billion people have lived and died till today. (See Max Roser, CC BY 4.0 via Wikimedia Commons). Out of that 109 billion, let’s make a generous wild guess that 25% got saved, or 27.25 billion. Then add 2.3 billion and round off the total to 30 billion people raptured, dead and alive.
