MILLENNIAL KINGS CHRIST’S KINGDOM. How will nations and constitutions change during the Millennium?

Many consider the US Constitution the best constitution ever produced. Because it gives all individuals maximum freedom, equal opportunity, and equal rights to life and liberty. But its principles only set the stage for the best political conditions in a fallen world.
How will that change during the Millennium? Actually, the world will start over again in a very fallen state.
The world will have fallen further due to the Antichrist’s world wars, and due to the plagues that destroy his world kingdom—at the end of which cities will have fallen, one-third of the trees and fields will have burned, and all the springs and rivers and oceans will have turned into blood (Rev. 8 & 16)
The world will need a Savior more than ever. And so Jesus will return with His glorified saints. Romans 8:19,21 says “the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God… “the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God”.
God’s green new deal
So we as glorified saints will play a large part in restoring creation. God will involve us in His real “green new deal” for the nations, beginning with Israel.
“I will cause the cities to be inhabited, and the waste places will be rebuilt. The desolate land will be cultivated instead of being a desolation in the sight of everyone who passes by. They will say, ‘This desolate land has become like the garden of Eden; and the waste, desolate & ruined cities are fortified and inhabited. Then the nations that are left round about you will know that I, the Lord, have rebuilt the ruined places and planted that which was desolate” (Ezek. 36:33-36).
So people which have seen restored Israel “will declare My glory among the nations” (Isa. 66:19). They will prepare the way for His glorified saints to come and rule those nations. Then we will use the miracle-working powers Jesus gave us to restore them too.
But what if any try to use arms against us? In that case we may just have to release enough glory to immobilize them. Then we may have to carry out a disarmament campaign.
As in Isaiah 2:4, “they will hammer their swords into ploughshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, and never again will they learn war.” Instead, the increase of His government & His peace will have no end” (9:7).
It will take time to teach the nations His ways of peace. When we disciple individuals, we have to begin where they are. And then encourage them in the loving ways of the Lord.
Discipling nations
In the same way, each king will have to begin where that nation is, and disciple that nation. At that time, all the nations will have suffered from three-and-a-half years of Antichrist rule.
Instead of lording it over them, or taking advantage of them, we will want to train them to rule too. Just as Jesus made us co-rulers, we should seek to make them co-rulers.
So the orderly transition of power involves equipping them to do His work. Also, it involves coming to agreement on a transitional new constitution. It would adapt their customary form of government to Christ’s government.
For example, a communist government may agree to handing over state-controlled businesses. They could find good and faithful servants of the Lord to make them more productive than ever. And they could give everyone more and more rights and freedoms over their own lives.
We saw that many former communist eastern European nations became constitutional democracies. So did western European nations and Japan after World War Two.
But a constitutional democracy—or republic—that guarantees equal rights and freedoms, is only the best political condition in a fallen world.
Christ will not only restore the world to Eden, but reconcile our relationships to each other and God. As His truth sets more and more people free, divisions will fade. Political parties will diminish, and debates over policy will die down.
Training for reigning for 1000 years
The church will grow in maturity and wisdom, and become more of a light for governments to follow. But we can never force people to believe in Christ, or join the church, or be ruled by the church. Because you cannot force faith.
Sin and sinners will continue until the end of the Millennium, when Satan will stage one last rebellion. But we can start learning now how to rule people for their good, so they will be less inclined to rebel.
We should engage in missions with a view to disciple each nation, and not to just grow churches. Those who do this best now will qualify themselves to rule over nations. For they will desperately need restoration after the Antichrist falls.
In this age, we are training for reigning so that we can graduate, and be prepared to rule nations when the Millennium comes. So let’s make the most of this life.
