So Far Left Off Map—Mayor Excuses Repeat Offenders

SO FAR LEFT OFF MAP. Seattle Democrat Mayor Bruce Harrell said that he has “no desire” to put repeat offenders in jail. Specifically in a mayoral debate, he said this: “When this person is committing six or seven crimes, I don’t know his or her story. Maybe they were abused as a child. Maybe they’re hungry. But my remedy is to find their life story to see how we can help. First, I have no desire to put them in jail, but I need to protect you, and that’s the calibration that we have…And so we have a health-based strategy.”

What would he do if the repeat offender who stabbed Ukrainian Iryna Zarutska on a train did so in Seattle? According to his logic, he would have fed the murderer and listened to his story. And he would have given him a prescription instead of prosecution, and sent him home.

So why do I even mention such a far, far left loony that he goes off the map? Because he has authority and he’s running for mayor again. Too often far left loony ideas like transgender operations on children quickly become mainstream. It’s happening again with Zohran Mamdani poised to become New York City’s mayor.

From fool to front runner

At first people laughed when they heard he said his end goal was “seizing the means of production.” Then Mamdani refused to walk it back. He also refused to condemn the phrase “globalize the intifada”  used to justify violence against Jews. Then he became front-runner to become our biggest city’s mayor. Now Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, AOC, Ilhan Omar and NY Gov. Kathy Hochul have endorsed him. And copycat candidates are gaining support elsewhere in the US.

Bruce Harrell made his remarks on repeat offenders when debating his rival for mayor, Katie Wilson. So should we pray for her to win instead? But she holds a similar position. She advocates Law Enforcement Effective Diversion (LEAD) for repeat offenders. LEAD connects them with community case management resources as an alternative to prison terms. In fact, she criticizes Harrell for not supporting LEAD enough.

Wilson says, “this is exactly the kind of program that we need in order to address the problem of repeat offenders, especially for low level crime, without just giving people long jail sentences which, frankly, doesn’t work either.”

Both Harrell and Wilson need to be sentenced to repeat kindergarten and grade school instead of being placed as candidates for mayor of a big city. That is, if our schools weren’t so riddled with the woke indoctrination which produces more fools. May God save our schools and raise up more Charlie Kirks instead.
