Mayor Blames Christian Event

MAYOR BLAMES CHRISTIAN EVENT. Remember the Gay Pride event in June 2023 when a crowd of LGBTs were saying, “We’re coming after your kids”? The mass media fell over themselves defending them, saying they meant that in a friendly way. Only the most naïve parents would fall for that.

Well, a Christian pro-life group called Mayday USA took its national tour called “Don’t Mess with Our Kids” to Cal Anderson Park in Seattle. Hundreds of supporters came holding pro-life, pro-family, and pro-religious freedom signs. Then pro-LGBT counter-protesters came with transgender flags. And they threw water bottles and other objects.

Police in riot gear tried to keep the two groups separated, according to one report. But they saw “multiple people inside one group [guess who?] throw items at the opposing group.” When officers tried to arrest those people, LGBT protesters assaulted the police. Also, two protesters jumped over the police barrier and briefly got access to the stage. As the incident escalated for several hours, 22 adults were arrested for obstruction and assault. And one officer was injured.

So what did the Democrat Mayor Bruce Harrell do? Blamed the Christians for seeking to “provoke a reaction by promoting beliefs that are inherently opposed to our city’s values, in the heart of Seattle’s most prominent [LGBT] neighborhood.” He even called it “an extreme right-wing national effort to attack our [LGBT] communities.” But to the charge that the violence came from the LGBT side, he blamed it on “anarchists.” Supposedly they “infiltrated the counter-protestors group.”

Preaching without discrimination to all creation

Pastor Russell Johnson heads Pursuit NW, a group of evangelical churches in the Seattle area. He called on Mayor Harrell to apologize or resign for his “religious bigotry.” Also he said the Christians “were violently assaulted for the high crime of expressing their deeply held religious beliefs in the form of a permitted worship event on city property.” Yet LGBTs keep holding Gay Pride events in mostly straight communities. So why can’t Christians hold be able to hold pro-family Christian events in mostly LGBT communities? We would be discriminating against them if we didn’t. Because Jesus said, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation” (Mt. 16:15).

LGBTs can’t expect to make unrelenting progress in their Gay Pride movement. No movement in history ever has. Year after year, they want Gay Parades to be more aggressive, more explicit, more naked. Even in the more straight neighborhoods. They certainly didn’t expect a Christians to come to their locales in the aggressive way Mayday USA did. Now LGBTs want to deny them rights to freedom of speech and assembly that LGBTs call their own. They want to call more neighborhoods and streets and cities their own. But “to the Lord your God belong heaven and…the earth and all that is in it” (Dt. 10:14-15).
