Egypt’s Gaza Plan: EU, UN & Hamas Say Yes, Israel & US No

Egypt's Gaza plan

EGYPT’S GAZA PLAN. On March 4 the Arab League endorsed an Egyptian plan to rebuild Gaza. So did Hamas. That alone should raise a red flag. But Israel, along with the US, has rejected it.

Like the Trump plan, the first phase of Egypt’s plan focuses on clearing explosives and rubble. But unlike the Trump plan, its second phase builds temporary housing as it engages in reconstruction. It doesn’t build new housing until its third phase.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry rejects the plan because it “fails to mention Hamas’ brutal terrorist attack.” Hamas approves of the plan because it wants to rearm and launch similar terrorist attacks. And to fulfill its genocidal long-term charter mission to wipe out Jews from the Jordan River to the sea.

Instead, Israel wants to wipe out Hamas terrorists before it lets Palestinians resettle in Gaza. Therefore Israel favors Trump’s plan. Clear Gaza first and build housing, then let only non-terrorists and non-criminals in.

The US agrees, according to an NSA spokesperson. “The current [Egyptian] proposal does not address the reality that Gaza is uninhabitable. Its residents cannot live there humanely when it is covered in rubble and unexploded bombs.” Moreover, “President Trump stands behind his vision to rebuild Gaza without Hamas.”

Like putting Nazi terrorists in charge of Germany?

But Hamas backs the Egyptian plan’s “Committee Support Committee” which Hamas expects to control. That committee would oversee the relief, rebuilding and rule of Gaza. That would be like the Allies handing the rule of Germany back to the defeated Nazis after WWII.

The European Union and the UN support that plan. But they wouldn’t have supported letting Nazi terrorists come back and rule Germany after WWII. Yet if they lived in Israel, under constant threat of Hamas terrorism, they would think much differently. Just like they fear Russian expansion into Europe after Ukraine.

Europe had refugee settlements outside of Germany while the Allies were rebuilding Germany. In the same way, Arab leaders should have more refugee areas for Palestinian Arabs during Gaza rebuilding.

At least Egypt’s plan allows no funding as long as Hamas remains the dominant military in Gaza’s rule. But could it prevent Hamas from becoming dominant? Not if Hamas restores its hidden tunnel network or makes more tunnels. Whatever plan they put on paper, they had better recognize 3D realities.
