ABORTION CAUSES MORE DEATHS. Around the world, abortion caused 42% of all the deaths in 2024, according to Worldometer. It accounted for a total of 45.1 million deaths. Then the next leading causes were cancer at 8.2 million, smoking at 5 million, HIV/AIDS at 1.7 million, traffic deaths at 1.35 million and suicide at 1.1 million.
Within the US alone, about one-third of all deaths occur by abortion. But among African-Americans, the abortion death toll arise the 60%+. In fact, more than half of all African American pregnancies—52%–end in abortion. Black babies in the US are four times as likely to die as a result of abortion than white babies.
Why don’t we hear more about these staggering, tragic statistics? Because some nations censor and even punish media outlets for publishing them. For instance, the French media regulator ARCOM fined CNews US $103,000 for its abortion report. Last February, a CNews presenter spoke of abortion as the world’s leading cause of death. ARCOM retaliated saying, “abortion cannot be presented as a cause of death.”
Yet CNews was only quoting the WHO, which counted 73 million abortions per year. If true, that amounts to almost 28 million more than Worldometer reported. So does that mean that even more abortions go unreported because of censors like ARCOM?
Blessing abortion?
Ever since the US Supreme Court overturned Roe, pro-abortion advocates have grown bolder. Recently three progressive female ministers held a blessing over abortion tools & equipment. Calling themselves the Religious Community for Reproductive Choice, they included a Baptist minister, a Presbyterian pastor, and a Jewish cantor. They burned incense as they walked through a Maryland abortion clinic—their 10th such blessing.
Like the Pope’s proposed “blessing” on same sex unions, it shows human approval, but not God’s. God sent Jesus to “bless you by turning every one of you from your wicked ways” (Acts 3:26). Now He sends sidewalk counselors to turn women seeking abortions from those deadly ways. Because He is the Father of lights, He does not change like shifting shadows—or some Christians. May His light shine so they may see the grievous error of their ways and find His way.
