In Revelation 5, God on His throne holds a book with 7 seals. Only Jesus is found worthy to open the seals.
When He does so, all heaven breaks into a new song. Because the opening of the seals triggers the end-times events that will lead to Christ’s kingdom on earth. They sing because the evil kingdoms of the world will soon come to an end:
“Worthy are You to take the book and to break its seals; for You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God; and they will reign upon the earth.” (Rev. 5:9-10)
At that time, the people on the earth will so yearn for a messiah that they will accept a false one—who turns out to be the Antichrist.
“Then I saw when the Lamb broke one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying as with a voice of thunder, ‘Come.’ I looked, and behold, a white horse, and he who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer.” (Rev. 6:1-2).
The first seal shows the Antichrist on a white horse going out to conquer. He makes conquests in by making peace, with a bow empty of arrows. The world welcomes him as a great statesman.
From peacemaker to warmonger
But in the second seal his peaceful conquests turn into wars.
“When He broke the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, ‘Come.’ And another, a red horse, went out; and to him who sat on it, it was granted to take peace from the earth, and that men would slay one another; and a great sword was given to him.” (Rev. 6:3-4)
The Antichrist will use these wars to gain world military control. He will face opposition, and receive a fatal head wound. But he will recover with supernatural power. In response, the whole world will be amazed, and will follow and worship the Antichrist, saying, “who is able to wage war with him?” (Rev. 13:3-4).
Then empowered by Satan, the Antichrist will exalt himself to the throne of God and forbid any other worship (2 Thess. 2:3-4). This “abomination of desolation” will bring “great tribulation” on Christians and anyone else who tries to resist the Antichrist (Mt. 24:15-22).
Such tribulation will come on Christians that many will fall away into apostasy. They will either take the mark of the Antichrist, or follow false Christs (Mt. 24:22-27)…
